Online Video Spotlight: HitRecord on TV

Joseph Gordon Levitt stirred up some major waves when he premiered his new television variety show HitRecord on TV on YouTube earlier this month. The show hit YouTube on January 6, several weeks before it premiered on the Pivot cable channel. HitRecord on TV is an open collaborative project that combined the work of thousands of artists during its first season. Each episode focuses on a single theme and encourages users to contribute (and get paid!) through hitRECord.org. Coincidentally, episode 1 focused on “the number one” and is close to reaching 1 million views, but more importantly has nearly 24,000 likes and 3,000 comments. HitRecord on TV is helping merge the gap between traditional television and online video with its debut on YouTube and open collaboration on the internet. We think it’s the first of many similar programs to come!
