When a Nonprofit Story Creates a New Opportunity

Sometimes the impact of a film can't be measured in views.
Shortly after Meals That Matter screened at the Phoenix Film Festival, a friend attended the screening and was deeply moved by the story. He connected The Joy Bus with a family member at Discount Tire, who helped introduce the organization to its charitable foundation, Driven to Care.
That introduction eventually led to an $82,000 grant opportunity for The Joy Bus, including funding for meal packaging and more than 1,400 meals.
For us, this is exactly why we believe nonprofit video should be approached as a long-term strategic asset, not simply as a piece of content.
The film created an emotional connection, which started a conversation, and that conversation opened a door.
The camera stopped rolling. The story kept working.
Learn how nonprofits can turn a documentary into a long-term fundraising and community engagement tool in our guide, Turning a Film Into a Funding Tool.
